Colorado's record for most destructive wildfire was broken three times in as many years

July 24, 2013

Colorado has seen its record for most destructive wildfire broken three times in as many years. According to the El Paso County Assessor's Office, 486 homes were destroyed by the Black Forest Fire in June 2013. This far surpasses the previous record off 346 homes destroyed by the Waldo Canyon Fire in June 2012, which itself was more than twice as high as the prior record of 169 homes destroyed by the Four mile Canyon Fire in September 2010.
