An average of six tropical cyclones make landfall in the Philippines annually, with another four passing close enough to cause damage. The Philippines have experienced tropical cyclone activity in every month, with peaks in July and November as a result of the shifting subtropical high. Super typhoon landfalls—like Haiyan—occur once every 10 years on average.
