Peter Sousounis, director of meteorology at AIR Worldwide, said the storm, which has brought freezing temperatures and hurricane-force winds to the region, had resulted in large ice floes being broken up and driven ashore. “These large ice floes have a large mass and can cause considerable damage when combined with high wind gusts,” he told Insurance Day.
