The last update to national seismic hazard model (NSHM) for New Zealand was a minor tweak in 2010.

Geoscience Australia has updated the National Seismic Hazard Map challenging established conceptions of Australia’s seismic hazard and generally decreasing seismic hazard factors significantly.

Aftershocks will continue, but the good news is that the next great rupture will likely be some distance away from the densely populated capital city, Kathmandu.
