While the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) expired at the end of 2014, Congressional efforts to reauthorize TRIA have finally come together.

I'm pleased to report there have been positive efforts by Congress to advance the reauthorization of TRIA since my previous post. Last week, House lawmakers passed a TRIA extension bill with a strong bipartisan vote, 417-7.

In my last blog post, I discussed aspects related to the TRIA reauthorization bills that have been proposed by the House of Representatives and the Senate. Unfortunately, efforts to advance these measures stalled during the late summer months as Congress prepared for the 2014 mid-term elections.

The future of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA), slated to expire on December 31, 2014 in the absence of Congressional action, has been consistently trending as one of the top headlines in insurance industry news.
