Why not put AIR's hazard and event data to work for you? AIR recently released an update to Touchstone® that adds more than 70 new or updated geospatial layers to assist you in understanding and managing risk from multiple perils around the world. These hazard and event layers provide additional tools to assess risk, enable you to pinpoint locations that meet your underwriting guidelines, and assess a location's loss potential using a combination of historical and simulated Realistic Disaster Scenario (RDS) and Extreme Disaster Scenario (EDS) event footprints.

The following set of geospatial hazard and event layers is now available through Touchstone 4.2, as part of the associated model's license,  to enable your organization to better understand your accumulations of risk around the world.

  • U.S. FEMA flood layer – FEMA flood zones have been updated to reflect the latest available data on at-risk flood zones
  • U.S. Storm Surge Potential – Storm surge hazard maps have been updated to reflect the latest understanding of risk as well as recent changes to coastal geography
  • Verisk Maplecroft Terrorism risk index maps –This global assessment of terrorism threats reflects updates as of Q2/2016
  • Alquist-Priolo earthquake fault zones for U.S. earthquake risk – This layer reflects minor updates to risk areas made by the USGS and has been included in anticipation of the 2017 release of the updated AIR Earthquake Model for the U.S.
  • Southeast Asia Earthquake PGA (250-, 475-, and 2475-year return period maps) – These three layers illustrate where the most violent seismic movement can be expected throughout Southeast Asia
  • Southeast Asia Tropical Cyclone Wind Speed (25-, 50-, 100-, 250-, 500-, and 1,000-year return period maps) – These six layers illustrate where the most destructive winds can be expected across Southeast Asia
  • Vietnam Flood (50-, 100-, 200-, 250-, 500-year return period maps) – These five layers illustrate the extent to which floodwaters can be expected to inundate areas of Vietnam
  • RDS Gulf of Mexico Offshore event – This new layer shows the Lloyd's RDS event for the Gulf of Mexico, which is expected to result in offshore energy insured loss of USD 4.5 billion (estimated USD 11 billion insurable loss)"1
  • Canada RDS ERRO2 events (100-, 250-, and 500-year return period maps) – These six new layers (three each) reflect the Realistic Disaster Scenarios for the provinces of British Columbia and Quebec.
  • Southeast Asia Tropical Cyclone Wind Historical Events – These 17 historical storm tracks and wind speed footprints span the period from Joan in 1970 to Haiyan in 2013
  • Southeast Asia Tropical Cyclone Wind EDS World Scenarios  – These two Extreme Disaster Scenarios developed by AIR include potential storm tracks and wind speed footprints for strong typhoons impacting Taiwan and the Philippines
  • Southeast Asia Earthquake Historical Events – These 16 historical earthquakes with epicenter locations and ground motion footprints span the period from the Sumatra, Indonesia, quake in 1833 to the one in Bohol, Philippines, in 2013
  • Southeast Asia Earthquake EDS World Scenarios – These 11 Extreme Disaster Scenarios developed by AIR include potential epicenter locations and ground motion footprints for strong earthquakes impacting Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam
