John Elbl

John Elbl is a Vice President in AIR's Business Development Group. In his role, he assists with service and support for AIR's commercial insurer clients, as well as aids in developing AIR software and models to better meet the needs of commercial insurers. He has extensive experience working with companies to interpret analysis results, optimize modeling workflows and, improve overall catastrophe risk management. Prior to joining AIR, he was the Global Head of Catastrophe Modeling at Zurich Insurance Company. Before that, he was a Reinsurance Underwriting Manager at Empire Fire and Marine. Mr. Elbl holds a M.S. in applied Mathematics from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and a B.S. in Mathematics from Kansas State University.

John Kenney

John Kenney is an Assistant Vice President in our Business Development team. Prior to joining AIR in 2012, John worked as Director of Ceded Reinsurance for Liberty Mutual Company, where he was responsible for the design and placement of property and casualty ceded reinsurance programs protecting Liberty Mutual Group's Corporate and business unit assets. Before that he was a Client Underwriting Manager for GE Insurance Solutions. John earned an MBA with a concentration in Finance and Operations Management from Northeastern University.

John-Paul Glutting

John-Paul Glutting has a background in Public Health, Bioinformatics, and GIS. He has worked at AIR Worldwide for five years modeling health threats, and previously at Dana Farber Cancer Institute on computational vaccinology projects (RANKPEP) and the Cochrane Collaboration. His current focus is on human mobility and disease transmission dynamics in global populations.

Jonathan Holden

Jonathan Holden is Vice President of AIR’s Product Management group and oversees product development and new product initiatives, including Touchstone®. He has more than 15 years of product management experience. Before joining AIR in 2006 Jonathan was with EMC’s Microsoft Technology Practice responsible for delivering cutting-edge, custom software solutions for clients in the (re)insurance, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. He earned a B.A. in Geoscience from Franklin and Marshall College and an M.S. in Hydrology from the University of New Hampshire.

Jonathan Kinghorn

Jonathan Kinghorn is a Senior Editor in the Marketing and Communications group. Before joining AIR in 2012 he was Web Content Manager at Abt Associates, editor of an antiques magazine, webmaster for the Beacon Press, and an editorial associate with the IBM Institute for Knowledge Management. He earned a B.A. from Leicester University and is a certified museum curator.

Jonny Green

Jonny Green joined AIR Worldwide in June 2015 as part of the Consulting and Client Services Group. He previously spent more than six years as an infantry officer in the British Army and served an operational tour to Afghanistan. Juan Duan

Juan Duan joined AIR's London office as a Research Associate in July 2014. She studied at Imperial College London, earning an MSc in Hydrology for Environmental Management and then a Ph.D. in Hydrology, investigating uncertainty in statistical downscaling of rainfall. On graduation, Juan worked for a large international engineering consultancy as part of their flood modeling team before joining AIR.

Julia Borman

Julia Borman joined AIR in 2014 and is a Scientist on our Research team in the Agriculture group. Julia researched risk management, agricultural economics, industrial organization and development economics prior to joining AIR. She has experience as an instructor and teaching assistant from North Carolina State University and received a number of honors and awards including the 2013-2014 BB&T Graduate Fellowship from the NCSU Poole College of Management BB&T Center for the Study of Free Markets and Institutions. Julia received her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics from St Mary's College of Maryland, her Master of Economics from North Carolina State University, and her Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University.

Julia Cheong

Julia Cheong joined AIR in 2014 and is a Product Consultant III in our Product Management Department. Previously, Julia held a position as a Research Analyst at Boston University, where she was responsible for building a predictive model to project the financial impact of aid and admissions strategies. Julia has earned a B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Tufts University and an M.S. in Computer Science from Boston University.

Julia Krezel joined AIR's marketing team in July 2014 as a Senior Product Marketing Manager leading marketing efforts for AIR solutions in North America. Previously, Julia worked with Freddie Mac in the Investments and Capital Markets department. Julio Beier

Julio Beier joined AIR's Munich office in 2014 as a Client Services Associate. Previously he worked as a research assistant at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research (Department of Marine Geodynamics - Submarine Hazards) and at the RWTH Aachen University (Institute of Neotectonics and Natural Hazards). Julio received his MSc degree in Marine Geosciences from Kiel University.

Kaitlin Reiss

Kaitlin Reiss joined AIR in 2017 and is a Risk Consultant in our Consulting and Client Services group. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with minors in Mathematics and Statistics. Kamban Parasuraman

Kamban Parasuraman is a Principal Engineer at AIR Worldwide, where he specializes in multi-peril catastrophe risk modeling, and leading the efforts in developing and productizing supply chain risk solution for insurance and corporate markets. Prior to joining AIR Worldwide, Dr. Parasuraman worked at Corelogic/EQECAT, developing new solutions for catastrophe risk management and consulting for Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) transactions Kamban earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with specialization in Hydrology and Water Resources engineering from University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He also serves as a peer-reviewer for leading geophysical and machine learning journals and conferences.

Karthik Ramanathan

Dr. Karthik Ramanathan is an AVP and Principal Engineer in the atmospheric perils vulnerability team within the Research and Modeling Department, working primarily on the wind and storm surge vulnerability of civil engineering systems. He is the lead engineer working on the development and validation of the vulnerability module of the U.S. Hurricane model. Most recently, he participated in a damage survey following Hurricane Sandy. Dr. Ramanathan holds two Masters Degrees in Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials from the University of Pittsburgh and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a special focus on earthquake engineering.

Kazuya Fujimura

Dr. Kazuya Fujimura is Vice President and Managing Director of the AIR Worldwide Tokyo office. He is responsible for business development, marketing, and client services in Japan. He has also been involved in research and development of the AIR earthquake and typhoon models for Japan. After graduating from Kyoto University in 1993, Kazuya joined the Kajima Corporation, where he worked as a Structural Engineer. Prior to joining AIR, he was a senior modeler at another catastrophe modeling firm. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University. Kazuya earned his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering and Masters in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005, with a specialization in structural reliability.

Kevin Hill

Kevin Hill joined AIR in 2010 as an Atmospheric Scientist in our Research Department. Prior to AIR, Kevin worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Kevin acquired his B.S.in Meteorology from the State University of New York at Brockport. Kieran Borrett

Kieran Borrett works in AIR’s Business Development Group, helping clients to manage risk through leveraging AIR’s products and services. Previously Kieran spent three years in AIR’s Consulting and Client Services Group where he worked with clients on a day-to-day basis helping to train, work with model results and advice on workflow related topics. Alongside London Market clients, Kieran has worked closely with AIR’s French and Israeli clients. Prior to joining AIR, Kieran worked within the UK’s Environment Agency Modeling and Hydrology team. As part of this role he worked in the national response centre issuing warning during flood events.

Kierste Miller

Kierste Miller joined AIR in 2013 as an Analyst in our Research Department. Most recently, she held a position as a Research Assistant in the Division of Epidemiology, Human Genetics, and Environmental Sciences Department at the University of Texas School of Public Health, and as a Public Health Intern at the Texas Department of State Health Services. There she analyzed data related to the 2009 Influenza H1N1 A outbreak. Kierste earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computational Biology from the University of Texas. Korbinian Breinl

Korbinian Breinl joined AIR in spring 2015. Prior to AIR, he worked at Allianz SE Reinsurance as a catastrophe risk analyst, with a particular focus on stochastic weather models and flood model development. Korbinian holds an MSc degree in Physical Geography and a Ph.D. in Geoinformatics. He has published research articles in the fields of Hydrology and Meteorology in various international peer-reviewed journals. (Breinl left AIR in 2016.)

Kyle Butler

As a Senior Engineer in AIR's Research and Modeling group, Kyle Butler developed, improved, and maintained the wind vulnerability components for the AIR Hurricane Model for the United States and the AIR Tropical Cyclone Model for Australia. He participated in AIR's post-disaster damage surveys, including one in 2011 for Cyclone Yasi in Australia. Prior to AIR, he worked as a Doctoral Research Assistant, developing prototype wind tunnel systems to simulate thunderstorm and gust type outflows for the Nat Haz Modeling Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. (Note: Kyle left AIR in 2014.)

Les Muir

Les Muir is a Senior Scientist in AIR’s Research and Modeling Department. Prior to joining AIR in 2016, Leslie worked for Yale University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and before that a Research Projects Officer for CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research. He has earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Stochastic Optimisation from the University of Queensland and his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Monash University.

Lucy Phillips

Lucy Phillips Lucy Phillips is a Senior Risk Consultant based in AIR's London office. She began working as a Client Services Associate in 2011 within the Consulting and Client Services Team. Within this role she had the opportunity to assist clients from a wide range of sectors within the insurance market, although she mainly specialised in Reinsurance and Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) projects.

In January 2014, Lucy began working with the ILS Team full time and has since then been involved in a number of issuances and resets, in maintaining the Catastrophe Bond Database, and providing support to European ILS clients.

Lucy earned a BSc in Environmental Science and an MSc in Applied Meteorology and Climatology from the University of Birmingham.

Luis Sousa

Luis Sousa joined AIR’s London team in 2017 after nine years as an earthquake engineer and catastrophe modeler. Luis specializes in earthquake engineering and probabilistic seismic risk.He obtained his MSc in structural engineering at the University of Porto, Portugal (2008), and his Ph.D. on earthquake engineering and seismic risk at the University of Porto, in cooperation with the Institute of Advanced Study of Pavia (IUSS), Italy (2016).
