Description

261

Automobiles

Typically a four-wheeled automotive vehicle designed for passenger transportation.

For all regions outside the United States, use occupancy class code 300 with construction class 261. To model automobile dealerships in the United States using the AIR Severe Thunderstorm Model for the United States, AIR Severe Thunderstorm Model for Canada, or the AIR Hurricane Model for the United States, use construction class code 261 with occupancy class code 312 or 313.

The AIR Severe Thunderstorm Model for the United States, AIR Severe Thunderstorm Model for Canada, and the AIR Hurricane Model for the United States provide separate damage functions for standard automobiles and for automotive dealerships. Note that the automotive dealer damage function (construction class code 261 with occupancy class code 312 or 313) assumes that the majority of the vehicles are parked outside in the open. Accordingly, for a dealership with the majority of the cars outside and few inside, AIR recommends coding all this exposure with construction class code 261 and occupancy class code 312 or 313. However, if the majority of the cars are inside the dealership, for example, a dealership in a city in which there are a few cars in a showroom, AIR recommends coding the automobile exposure as Content, for Coverage C, and supplying the appropriate construction and occupancy class codes for the dealership itself in the Coverage A field.
