Common Buttons

 

Touchstone displays a lot of buttons (icons) that are common to many windows, panes, and dialog boxes. These buttons allow you to perform various operations and are contextual, that is, a button appears only when it is relevant to the task or environment at hand. The following table provides a summary of these common buttons and what they do.

  Some buttons have more than one look:  icon and label, icon only, label only.

Click to add a new item.

Select item in Available Options list then click Add >> to move to Selected Options list.

Add All >>

Add All

Click  to move all items from Available Options list to Selected Options list.

Apply

Click to apply your changes.

Cancel

Cancel

Click to close the window or dialog box without saving.

Column Chooser

Field Chooser

Click to display Column (Field) Chooser dialog box where you can  turn columns (fields)  on and off.

Clear

Click to clear the grid or table.

Close

Close

Click to close the window or dialog box.

Copy

Click to copy data.

or Delete

Delete

Deletes the selected item. In the Activity Monitor it removes the item from the list.

Display

Display

Make selection to filter items displayed: all, my, or default.

or

Edit

Click to edit item.

or

Export

Click to export data.

Find

Click to browse and locate.

or or

Filter Off

Removes filter row or clears the filter.

or

Filter On

Displays a filter row beneath the column headers. If the icon includes a red check mark, clicking it hides the filter row.

Group By

Click to create subsets of data.

or

Help

Click to display information about the user interface.

Home

Return to home location.

or Import

Import

Click to import data or files.

Locate

Click to browse and locate file.

  or

Move

Select item in list and click arrows to move position in the list.

or Open

Open

Opens to browse.

or

Refresh

Refreshes the current display (e.g., grid, table, pane).

<< Remove

Remove

Select item in Selected Options list then click << Remove to move to Available Options list.

<< Remove All

Remove All

Click to move all items from Selected Options list to Available Options list.

Reset

Reset

Click to return to original settings.

 or Save

Save

Click to save your changes.

or Save As

Save As

Click to save your changes to another name. Enter a new name when prompted then save again.

Selections - Tag

Click to tag all selections in associated list.

Selections - Invert

Click to invert selections in associated list (reverse tagging).

Selections - Untag

Click to remove all selections from associated list.

Sort

Sort

Make selection to sort items by date created or modified or by name.

View log

Displays the log for the selected item.

  To view logs in Touchstone, you must first configure Notepad or WordPad as the default application for opening text files on your computer.
