Adding Exposure Views to a Project

After you create a project, you can add one or more exposure views, which identify the data that you want to focus on. Adding an exposure view involves selecting one or more exposure sets, creating a filter (optional), specifying currency and rate information, and naming the exposure view.

Process overview

To create an exposure view:

1.      Open the project in which you want to create a new exposure view.

2.      On the Exposure Views tab, click New . The Create New Exposure View pane displays the list of available databases and the exposure sets that reside on them, on the current server.

3.      To select the exposure set or sets that you want to include in the exposure view, use either of the following methods:

a.      Scroll through the available exposure sets and select the check box next to each one that you want to include. You can select exposure sets from different databases.

b.      Use the green Filter row to filter the lists. For example, you may want to filter the list to include only those exposure sets with "Commercial Wind" in the name. As you type "Commercial Wind" in the green filter cell in the Exposure Set column, the application updates the list.

4.      Optionally, create a complex filter, for example to filter the exposure sets based on country or peril. (You can export the filter and then import it for use with a different exposure view.)

5.      In the Options area, select the currency and exchange rate table to use for the exposure view that you are creating. This does not change the currency of the underlying exposure data. The analysis currency that you select is included in the Exposure Summary log file.

6.      In the Exposure View Name field, enter a name for the exposure view.

7.      AIR recommends that you do not clear the Auto-generate exposure summary check box (this is the default setting). The exposure view includes the exposure map and various tables along with the contract and location lists and location details. If you clear this option, the exposure view includes only the contract and location lists and location details, and the list of exposure views does not include contract and location count information.

8.      Click Create. The application begins creating the exposure view. At the same time, the application creates three links in the lower right corner of the pane: Exposure Summary, Contract List, and Activity Monitor. If you click the Exposure Summary link before the Exposure Summary activity is completed, an empty Exposure Summary Dashboard appears with the “Analysis in progress” message displayed on each component that appears in the dashboard. You must then wait for the Exposure Summary activity to complete..

9.      In the navigation pane, under Project Data, select Exposure Views. The grid includes the new exposure view. If the contract and location counts are "0", click the Refresh icon on the grid toolbar to update the display.
