Guidelines to Specifying the Number of Cores

The following table lists the factory-defined resource allocation scalability rules for various activity types, such as Import, Hazard Analysis, and Detailed Loss. This table only covers activity types that are configurable in the Administration Console via the HPC Resource Management function.

Key

Activity Type Code: The code in the ActivityType table in the AIRReference database. It represents the particular activity type.

Activity Type: The activity types that you can select from the list in the HPC Node Group Association pane.

Cores: The minimum and maximum number of cores that can be assigned to the activity types:

1 means that this activity type can only use one core. Assigning more cores would not have any effect because the activity type’s internal service is limited to using one core.

1 - N means that the activity type can be distributed on an unlimited number of cores (although there may be diminishing returns beyond a certain point). In some cases, AIR includes a recommendation in this column.
