My previous post discussed three factors that could increase the global Ebola pandemic. Today I am going to outline three key factors that could decrease it.

Ebola seems to be making new headlines every day. There is enormous interest in the fight against the disease in West Africa, as well as in the possibility of its spreading to other continents.

Big earthquakes (or mainshocks, as seismologists call them) get lots of attention, and with good reason: they happen suddenly, often without warning; they almost invariably cause the greatest damage and the greatest loss of life; and by definition they have the largest magnitude.

Bermuda lucked out during Gonzalo. Bermuda was right in the center of Gonzalo’s eye. Those two statements may seem contradictory, but they’re not.
