AIR
Spring Conference
AIR hosts a client conference each spring that focuses on AIR’s catastrophe models, as well as broader industry and management issues and the role that catastrophe loss estimation plays in those issues. The AIR Spring Conference offers the ideal forum for clients to meet with AIR staff to answer questions about the science and engineering that underlie the hazard and vulnerability components of AIR’s catastrophe models. Distinguished guest speakers from the wider scientific community provide insight on new developments and directions in research, while industry leaders provide insight into catastrophe modeling best practices.
Fall User Conference
Each fall, AIR hosts a Users' Conference in Boston. The conference focuses on AIR’s catastrophe modeling systems and is intended to inform users about new features and demonstrate how they can derive maximum benefit from them. These conferences provide invaluable opportunities for users to meet with AIR staff to answer questions, to discuss improvements and enhancements, and gain practical knowledge in the use of AIR applications.
Client Seminars and Webinars
During the course of each year, in venues around the world, AIR hosts seminars that provide the latest enhancements to AIR’s catastrophe models and systems, as well as updates on AIR’s own scientific research. In recent years, seminars have been held in Bermuda, London, Munich, Beijing, Taipei and Tokyo.
In addition, AIR holds online seminars, or webinars, on a variety of timely issues of particular concern to clients, such as updates in the immediate aftermath of major catastrophes.
The AIR Institute
The increased focus on catastrophe models by corporate managers, rating agencies and regulators has resulted in a growing need for skilled catastrophe modelers.
The AIR Institute Catastrophe Modeling Program provides a comprehensive program designed to groom the next generation of modelers. The five-day program consists of lectures and hands-on laboratories focused on catastrophe modeling best practices—knowledge that translates into improved profitability and modeling efficiency. Further details on the program, which qualifies for CPCU
Continuing Professional Development credits, are available here.
