Richard Yablonsky

Richard Yablonsky, Ph.D., CCM, is a Manager and Senior Scientist at AIR Worldwide. Since joining AIR Worldwide in December, 2014, Richard has worked heavily on the tsunami component of the Southeast Asia Earthquake Model, he has contributed to the tsunami component of the US Earthquake Model, and he has developed new tropical cyclone precipitation algorithms for the Post Event Loss Calculations in Australia and the Philippines. He is now becoming involved in many aspects of tropical cyclone and storm surge modeling at AIR, with an emphasis on U.S. storm surge but also wind field generation, precipitation, catalog updates, and teaching "CATSchool." Previously, Richard worked as a Marine Research Scientist (2013-2014) and a Marine Research Associate (2009-2013) at the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography in Narragansett, RI, specializing in modeling of air-sea interaction in tropical cyclones. Richard has also held a Visiting Scientist Appointment at the Developmental Testbed Center in Boulder, CO (2014). Richard obtained a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island (2009) and three degrees from North Carolina State University: M.S. in Atmospheric Science (2004), B.S. in Meteorology (2002), and B.A. in Chemistry (2002).
