Hurricane Gonzalo

On October 17, at 8:30 p.m. AST, the center of Gonzalo made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane on the south-central coast of Bermuda. The strongest observed winds at Bermuda International Airport were 93 mph sustained, with gusts of 113 mph. Despite the island’s strong building codes and their enforcement, damage was widespread. AIR surveyed most of the island’s parishes two to four days after the storm to assess the damage to various risks.
