S. Ming Lee, President and CEO
Ming Lee is President and CEO of AIR Worldwide and CEO of Verisk Climate. Ming is responsible for setting global strategy and overseeing worldwide operations of both divisions, which are part of Verisk’s decision analytics business segment. Since joining AIR in 1996, Ming has filled a number of senior leadership roles and has led several departments at AIR, including AIR’s work in the corporate, government, and weather risk management sectors, where he helped corporations and government agencies assess and manage their exposure to natural catastrophes.
Ming is a member of the governing board of the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) initiative and sits on the board of Verisk’s Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER) unit, which is on the forefront of research on global climate change and other issues in atmospheric science.
Before joining AIR, Ming held senior executive positions at several leading information technology companies. A former U.S. Navy officer, Ming holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Stanford Business School.
Bill Churney, Chief Operating Officer
Bill Churney is AIR’s Chief Operating Officer. Bill is responsible for overseeing strategic direction and company operations for product management, software product development, global business development, marketing, consulting, and client service activities. Bill joined AIR in 2002 and has extensive experience working with companies to better understand their risk management processes and to identify ways to implement analytics to improve catastrophe risk management. He has led teams that have significantly increased the use of models in many markets, including in the U.S. and Latin America. Bill holds a B.A. in Economics from Haverford College and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
Jayanta Guin, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Research & Modeling
Dr. Jayanta Guin is AIR’s Executive Vice President, responsible for strategic management of the AIR Research and Modeling group. Under his leadership, the group has developed a global suite of catastrophe models and continues to enhance modeling techniques. Jayanta also provides strategic input into AIR’s product development and consulting work for insurance linked securities. He has more than 15 years of experience in probabilistic risk analysis for natural catastrophes worldwide and is well recognized in the insurance industry for his expertise in the financial risk posed by natural perils. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University in India. He earned an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the State University of New York, Buffalo, with a specialization in dynamic soil-structure interaction and computational mechanics.
David Lalonde, FCAS, FCIA, MAAA, Senior Vice President, Consulting & Client Services
David Lalonde is Senior Vice President in the Consulting and Client Services group. David has a wealth of experience in the securitization of insurance risk and the use of dynamic financial analysis models for pricing, reserving, and corporate planning. He leads AIR’s Decision Analytics initiatives and manages the Regulation and Rating Agency teams. David has appeared as an expert witness in rate arbitration hearings and has provided catastrophe modeling expertise on due diligence teams. Prior to joining AIR, David was a Director at Coopers & Lybrand. David is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He received his B.Math. (Honours) in Actuarial Science with Statistics from the University of Waterloo.
Paul Devlin, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and General Counsel
Paul Devlin manages the legal, financial, human resources, and administration needs of the company. Previously, Paul served as Chief Operations Officer and General Counsel to the Institute for Business & Home Safety, a non-profit corporation funded by the property and casualty insurance industry. He has been a licensed attorney since 1982 and is a chartered property casualty underwriter. Paul earned his B.A .in Economics from Dartmouth College and graduated from Boston University School of Law.
Robert Newbold, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Consulting & Client Services
Robert Newbold is a Senior Vice President of Business Development and Client Services. He is responsible for the Americas Business Development team and for providing support and client service to AIR clients in the insurance, reinsurance, securitization, and intermediary markets in the Americas and Bermuda. Prior to joining AIR, he coordinated all facets of catastrophe modeling for one of the largest property and casualty insurers in the industry. Rob received a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and earned an MBA and an M.S. in Information Systems from Boston University’s Graduate School of Management.
Peter Lewis, Senior Vice President, Information Technologies and Services Group
Peter Lewis is Senior Vice President in AIR’s Information Technologies and Services group. He is responsible for developing and executing information technology initiatives in support of AIR’s business operations. He also leads AIR’s Technical Support and Integration Solution teams, which are responsible for the maintenance and support of AIR’s hosted and desktop applications in addition to custom integration with customer’s systems. Peter is a Microsoft® Certified Professional specializing in systems support and database administration. Peter holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Northeastern University.
Beverly Porter, Senior Vice President, Marketing
Beverly Porter is a Senior Vice President in AIR’s Marketing department. She is responsible for developing and executing AIR’s communications, marketing, and public relations strategies. Prior to joining AIR, Beverly was a systems analyst for Homeowner Financial Services, which matched mortgage programs and consumers based on the buyers’ risk tolerance. Before that, she held a variety of research positions at Boston University, including Project Manager on grants awarded by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Beverly received an M.A. in Economics from Boston University.
George Davis, FCAS, MAAA, Senior Vice President, Business Development
George Davis is a Senior Vice President at AIR and works with clients on solutions for catastrophe risk management, with a focus on strengthening business processes for more effective decision-making. George leads the development of combined catastrophe and non-catastrophe risk analysis and account level underwriting enhancements in Touchstone and oversees the Business Development team for crop modeling. He has a strong background in company operations, including actuarial, field office, and home office management experience. George is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He received a B.A. in Mathematics from Boston College and an MBA from Northeastern University’s executive program.

Akshay Gupta, Ph.D., P.E., Senior Vice President & Director, Catastrophe Risk Engineering Services
Dr. Akshay Gupta leads AIR’s San Francisco office and the company’s Catastrophe Risk Engineering practice, which focuses on providing corporate risk managers, brokers, and insurers with engineering-based, site-specific risk assessment services for high-value and complex facilities and operations. Akshay also works on model development, supply chain risk modeling, and disaster risk financing and mitigation projects for sovereign states, He has more than 15 years of experience in natural hazard risk analysis, mitigation, and modeling. He holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Stanford University. He is a licensed professional engineer and a member of various professional organizations and the author of numerous technical papers.
Praveen Sandri, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, AIR Worldwide India Private Limited
Dr. Praveen Sandri has over 15 years of experience in probabilistic risk analysis for natural and man-made catastrophes and has been instrumental in the development of various catastrophe models worldwide. Praveen is responsible for managing strategic operations in the India office, which provides services in the areas of software development, model implementation, GIS, model and product testing, analytics & data services along with providing client services and business development initiatives in India, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East regions. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering at Osmania University in India, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Texas Tech University, with a specialization in the application of expert systems and artificial networks in Wind Engineering.
Milan Simic, Ph.D., Senior Vice President & Managing Director, International Operations
As Senior Vice President and Managing Director of International Operations, Dr. Milan Simic is responsible for business development, strategic growth initiatives, and client services in London, Munich, Beijing, Tokyo, and Singapore. During his previous tenure as Managing Director of AIR’s London office, he oversaw AIR’s significant growth in the London market. Milan has more than 25 years of experience in risk assessment, engineering consulting, teaching, and research. Immediately prior to joining AIR, he was with Benfield’s Natural Hazards team. He is a Chartered Engineer through the UK Institution of Civil Engineers, a regular speaker at catastrophe-related conferences and has authored numerous papers and articles on insurance loss assessment and soil-structure interaction. He is also a member of the OECD’s High-Level Advisory Board on Financial Management of Large-Scale Catastrophes. He earned his MSc in Hydraulic Structures from the University of Belgrade and a Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering from the University of Bristol.
Yörn Tatge, Managing Director, AIR Worldwide GmbH
Yörn Tatge is Managing Director of AIR Worldwide GmbH in Munich, Germany. He oversees client services and business development efforts in Germany, Switzerland, Scandinavia, and other European countries while also providing strategic input into AIR. Yörn has more than 20 years of catastrophe modeling experience, including eight years in the reinsurance industry. He was a member of the AIR research team that developed the first ever European Extratropical Cyclone model in 1994 and he headed the AIR London office for its first two years. He studied both in German, and the U.S. and received his Master’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Hannover in Germany. Yörn has authored many articles on the subject of catastrophe risk management, and he is a regular speaker at industry events.
Giovanni Garcia, Vice President and Managing Director, AIR Worldwide Ltd
As Vice President and Managing Director of AIR Worldwide Ltd in London, Giovanni Garcia is responsible for business development, marketing, and client services in the UK, as well as Western and Southern Europe. He previously served as Director of Client Relations in AIR’s London office and helped establish AIR’s reputation for outstanding service and support in the London market. In that role his responsibilities included software support, training, and the delivery of catastrophe modeling services to Lloyd's syndicates, brokers, and global reinsurers. He received a BEng degree with Honours in Civil Engineering from Queen Mary, University of London. Prior to joining AIR, he served as a Manager for a UK insurance intermediary where he was responsible for the office’s Sales and Client Services teams.
Kazuya Fujimura, Ph.D., Vice President & Managing Director, AIR Worldwide Japan
Dr. Kazuya Fujimura is Vice President and Managing Director of the AIR Worldwide Tokyo office. He is responsible for business development, marketing, and client services in Japan. He has also been involved in research and development of the AIR earthquake and typhoon models for Japan. After graduating from Kyoto University in 1993, he joined Kajima Corporation, where he worked as a Structural Engineer. Prior to joining AIR, he was a senior modeler at another catastrophe modeling firm. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University. He earned his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering and Master's in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2005, with a specialization in structural reliability.
